Basic Building Signage Guidelines:
In the event you cannot use the SignWorks signage standards, please use the following guidelines to help guide you in developing signs with your local vendor.
Building signage, because of it's high visibility and generally long life span, should be planned with extra care in a consistent style throughout.
Well-placed signs in the appropriate size reinforce our corporate identity and enhance functionality of the building. Choosing the best size for the sign requires several considerations:
- Viewing distance. All signs must be legible at the desired distance and sized accordingly. An experienced sign maker can give guidance on size and placement.
- Restrictions. Signage must comply with any appilcable code restrictions and be placed where i will pose no safety hazards to pedestrians or interfere with visibility for drivers.
- Readability. Using the shorter, casual name and eliminating "Inc.", etc. eases readability.
The below specifications apply equally to names that are singular (Boys & Girls Club) and plural (Boys & Girls Clubs).
A. Follow the guidelines established for use of the Lockup and sizing the Location Name to the Logotype.*
B. The rounded corners on signs are equal to the radius of a circle whose diameter equals 1/3 the height of the Hands Symbol, marked (x) in the illustrations.
C. Set the Unit name in Arial Regular, upper and lower case, in a size that reads well at the desired distance.
* Please note an exception to the proportions of the Horizontal Configuration of the Lockup when used for signage: as pictured here, the Logotype and Location Name may be enlarged 50% in relation to the Hands Symbol. This alteration applies only to the Horizontal Lockup, and may be used on any sign, vehicle, bumper sticker, billboard, or banner.
